Can’t Include Devices - inclusion problems

In some instances, the process of including a device to a gateway may not be successful at the first attempt. Moreover, there may be instances where the gateway adds the Node ID to the device, but fails to include it in the list of its devices. As a result, the device cannot be included to the gateway unless the Node ID is erased from it, which can be achieved through exclusion or factory reset.

To determine whether the Node ID is still assigned to the device, you can verify the status LED of the device. If the green LED is blinking slowly, it indicates that the Node ID is already assigned, and as a result, the device cannot be added to the gateway. In case that the blinking LED is blue the Node ID was not assigned and you can proceed to add the device to the gateway.

To address this issue, the device needs to be excluded first, even if it is not visible in the gateway. The exclusion process involves the following steps:

  1. Connect the device to the power supply if is not connected already .
  2. Ensure that the device is within direct range of your Z-Wave Gateway
  3. Enable remove mode on your Z-Wave Gateway
  4. Please refer to the Removing (excluding) Shelly Wave Devices for the next steps.

If the exclusion process is not effective, you can try resetting the device to its default settings, which can be done by following the instructions. Once the Node ID is reset, you can proceed to include the device normally using the following steps:

  1. Connect the device to the power supply if is not connected already .
  2. Please refer to the Reset the Shelly Wave device for the next steps.
