The Shelly Wall Display XL and Shelly Wall Display X2i do not include built-in internal temperature or humidity sensors.
Because of this, these devices cannot measure room temperature or humidity on their own. In order for the displays to show valid temperature and humidity values, an external compatible sensor must be paired with them.
The following external sensors can be used for this purpose:
- Shelly BLU H&T
- Shelly BLU H&T ZB
- Shelly BLU H&T Display ZB
Once one of these sensors is added to your Shelly environment and properly connected, the Wall Display can use the sensor data to display the current room temperature and humidity.
Example of Expected Behavior Without an External Sensor
If no external temperature and humidity sensor is paired, the Wall Display may show invalid placeholder values such as:
- Temperature: -275.1°C (or similar)
- Humidity: -2% (or similar)
This is expected behavior and does not indicate that the Wall Display itself is defective.
