Overview
A Shelly Wave device can be added to the eedomus gateway, but it may not be fully recognized. The device may appear as a generic Z-Wave device, or some functions may be missing in the eedomus interface.
This usually means that the issue is related to the gateway device database and not to the Shelly Wave device itself. Shelly Wave devices follow the Z-Wave standard and report their supported functions to the gateway. However, some gateways also use their own internal database to display and configure devices correctly.
If the Shelly Wave device is not yet fully included in the eedomus database, the gateway may not show all available functions.
Why this can happen
The eedomus gateway uses its own device database. If a Shelly Wave device is not fully added to this database, eedomus may not know how to display all device functions correctly.
This can cause:
The device to be shown as a generic Z-Wave device
Some values to be missing
Some commands to be unavailable
Parameters to be missing or shown incorrectly
The device name or icon to be incorrect
The device to show a message that it is not properly recognized or not yet supported
This does not always mean that the device is faulty.
Device operation
Even if the device is not fully recognized by eedomus, the basic Z-Wave functions may still work.
For example, if the device is a power metering device, its main function is to:
Measure power consumption
Measure energy consumption
Report these values to the controller
If eedomus adds the device as a metering device, this is generally correct for devices that measure power and energy.
However, some values or settings may still require support from the eedomus device database.
Correct pairing steps in eedomus
To add a Shelly Wave device to eedomus:
Open the eedomus interface.
Go to Configuration.
Select Add or remove a device.
Select Add a Z-Wave device.
Choose not secure inclusion, or secure inclusion if preferred.
Wait for the inclusion process to start.
Put the Shelly Wave device into inclusion mode according following this guide.
Wait until the device is added.
Check how the device appears in the eedomus interface.
After inclusion, check if the device type, values, and functions are shown correctly.
If the device is not properly recognized
If the device is added but is not fully recognized, the next step is to contact eedomus support. Shelly cannot directly change how eedomus displays or integrates devices in their platform. The eedomus team must add or improve support for the device in their own database.
You can use the eedomus Technical Support Assistant.
Path to select:
Devices / Z-Wave / “The device is not properly recognized or is not yet supported. How to help the eedomus team integrate it.”
This option helps send the needed information to the eedomus team so they can add the device to their database.
Information to send to eedomus support
To help eedomus developers add the device faster, collect the following details from the eedomus device configuration page.
1. Brand and model
Send the full brand and exact model name.
Example:
Brand: Shelly
Model: Shelly Wave device model name
Use the exact model name printed on the device label or shown in the product documentation.
2. Product identifiers
Send the Z-Wave product identifiers. These might be available in the Parameters, Expert, or advanced device tab. If this is not found in the eedomus UI, they can be retrieved on our knowledge base.
Include:
Manufacturer ID
Product Type ID
Product ID
These identifiers help eedomus match the device correctly in their database.
3. Screenshot from eedomus
Send a screenshot showing how the device currently appears in the eedomus configuration interface.
The screenshot should show, if available:
Device name
Device type
Parameters or Expert tab
Product identifiers
Raw command classes
Current device status
This information helps eedomus support understand which functions are detected and which functions are missing.
What Shelly support can check
Shelly support can help confirm:
If the device model is correct
If the device is a valid Shelly Wave Z-Wave device
If the device has the expected Z-Wave functions
If the device was included correctly
If the device should report power, energy, switching, sensor, or other values
If a firmware update is available
However, if the device is not fully shown or supported in eedomus, the final integration must be done by the eedomus team.
Recommended checks before contacting eedomus
Before opening a request with eedomus support, check the following:
The device was included successfully.
The device is powered correctly.
The device is close enough to the gateway during inclusion.
The device was not interrupted during inclusion.
The device appears in the eedomus device list.
Basic values are shown, if supported by the device.
The eedomus gateway firmware is up to date.
The device was excluded and included again if the first inclusion failed.
The device was included securely or non-securely according to your preference.
If the device is only partially recognized after these checks, contact eedomus support.
Important note
A device can be added to the Z-Wave network correctly but still be shown incorrectly in the gateway interface. This can happen when the gateway does not yet have the correct device template or database entry. In this case, the device may work at the Z-Wave level, but the gateway interface may not display all functions correctly.
Summary
If a Shelly Wave device is not fully recognized in eedomus, the issue is most likely related to the eedomus device database. The device may still be added correctly and may still report basic values, such as power or energy, depending on the device type.
To solve the integration issue, contact eedomus support and send them:
The exact Shelly Wave model
Manufacturer ID
Product Type ID
Product ID
A screenshot of the device in eedomus
The raw command classes, if visible
This information helps eedomus add or improve support for the Shelly Wave device in their platform.
